Your pool should be the centerpiece of your backyard, not something you’re constantly fixing or feeling embarrassed about. A properly built pool patio changes everything.
You get a space that actually works for entertaining. No more guests stepping around cracked concrete or dealing with puddles that never seem to dry. No more worrying about someone slipping on uneven surfaces.
Instead, you get smooth transitions from your pool to your patio. Proper drainage that keeps water where it belongs. Materials that look great year after year, even through Long Island’s harsh winters. And enough space to actually enjoy your investment – whether that’s hosting summer barbecues or just having a place to set your coffee while the kids swim.
Corsino Construction Corp has been building and renovating pool areas throughout Long Island for over 20 years. We’re local contractors who live and work in this area.
When we build your pool patio, we’re building it to handle everything East Patchogue weather can throw at it. The freeze-thaw cycles that crack inferior installations. The heavy rains that expose poor drainage. The salt air from Great South Bay that tests every material.
We understand the specific challenges that come with building in this region, from structural stability requirements to the local permitting requirements enforced by the Town of Brookhaven Building Division. This local knowledge means your project gets done right the first time.
First, we come out to see your space and understand what you’re dealing with. Every pool area is different, and we need to see the drainage, the existing surfaces, and how you actually use the space.
Then we design a patio that makes sense for your property. This isn’t about pushing the most expensive option – it’s about creating something that works with your pool, your yard, and your budget.
Once you approve the design, we handle permits and start construction. We excavate properly, install the right base materials, and build your patio to last. The whole process typically takes a week to ten days, depending on size and complexity. You’ll know exactly what to expect before we start.

It depends on your priorities and budget. Concrete is cost-effective and can be stamped or colored for visual appeal. Pavers offer more design flexibility and are easier to repair if individual pieces get damaged. Natural stone looks great but costs more upfront.
All three work well in our climate when installed properly. The key is having the right base preparation and drainage regardless of which surface material you choose. We’ll show you samples and explain the maintenance requirements for each option so you can decide what makes sense for your situation.
In East Patchogue specifically, we see homeowners gravitating toward slip-resistant surfaces that can handle the wet conditions around pools. Travertine and textured pavers are increasingly popular because they’re slip, heat, and mold resistant. Permeable pavers are also gaining momentum as they help minimize water runoff – something that matters when you’re dealing with both pool splash-out and Long Island’s heavy rains.
Most pool patios take 5-10 days to complete, depending on size and complexity. Simple concrete pours can be faster, while intricate paver patterns or natural stone installations take longer.
Weather affects timing too – we can’t pour concrete in freezing temperatures or work in heavy rain. We’ll give you a realistic timeline upfront and keep you updated if anything changes. The actual construction is just part of the process though. Design, permits, and material delivery usually add 2-3 weeks to the overall project timeline from when you sign the contract.
Usually yes, especially for larger patios or anything that affects drainage. The Town of Brookhaven has specific requirements for hardscaping around pools, and you’ll likely need a building permit.
We handle all the permit applications and inspections as part of our service. It’s not worth risking code violations or problems when you sell your house later. The permit process typically takes 2-3 weeks, which is why we start it early in the project. Some simple repairs or small additions might not need permits, but we’ll check with the building department to be sure.
Drainage is critical around pools because you’re dealing with splash-out, rain runoff, and sometimes groundwater issues. We slope the patio away from both your pool and your house, typically at least 1/4 inch per foot.
For larger areas, we install drainage systems with catch basins and underground pipes to move water where it needs to go. We also make sure the patio surface itself sheds water properly – no low spots where puddles form. Poor drainage causes most of the problems we see with existing pool patios, so we pay close attention to getting this right from the start.
Not if it’s built right. Freeze-thaw cycles are hard on any outdoor surface, but proper installation prevents most cracking problems.
We excavate deep enough to get below the frost line, use the right base materials, and install control joints in concrete to manage thermal movement. With pavers, the individual pieces can handle thermal expansion better than solid concrete. The key is understanding how materials behave in our climate and building accordingly. That’s why we see so many DIY and cut-rate installations fail after their first winter.
Each has advantages depending on your situation. Concrete is the most cost-effective option and can be stamped or colored for visual appeal. It’s durable when properly installed but can crack over time.
Pavers offer more design flexibility with unlimited patterns, colors, and textures. They’re easier to repair since you can replace individual pieces if damaged. They also handle freeze-thaw cycles better than solid concrete. Natural stone like travertine or bluestone looks great and offers natural slip resistance, but costs more upfront. All three work well in East Patchogue when installed with proper drainage and base preparation.
It depends on what needs fixing. Simple crack repairs in concrete might run a few hundred dollars. Resetting a few loose pavers is relatively inexpensive. But if you have major drainage problems or structural issues, costs can climb quickly.
The bigger issue is that most “repairs” are actually symptoms of installation problems – poor drainage, inadequate base preparation, or corners cut during the original construction. Sometimes it makes more sense to rebuild sections properly rather than patch problems that will keep coming back. We’ll give you an honest assessment of whether repair or replacement makes more financial sense for your situation.
